AKIHABARA - Legendary place for Otaku!!!

Today I went to Akihabara (so called "Akiba" in Japan) after work.
Akihabara is widely known as "Legendary place for Otaku."
They have all kinds of shops - electric appliances, PC shops, duty free shops, comics, dvds, Dojin-shi, figures, "maid cafe", pachinko parlor, software for games, shops for cos players, and all kinds of stuff.
There is even a discount grocery store which I love to shop some time.
"Otaku" - Anime, Manga, Game fans from all over Japan visit Akihabara to enjoy shopping especially on weekends.
The number of foreigners who visit Akihabara is increasing rapidly.
I always meet a group of tourists from overseas.
I'm sure you will enjoy visiting there if you love Anime & Manga.
If you ever have a chance to visit Japan, I'd be happy to guide you!
In the future I'd like to be a volunteer guide to English speaking people who love Anime and Manga.
It would be nice If I can use my English to help overseas Anime & Manga fans.

The reason why I went there is to see Alice's figure.
I hadn't been to figure shops before.
I looked for it and I finally found it!
It was used one and it looked OK to me.
The sample picture on the official website is better, though.

And now, I'm writing this journal in the internet cafe near my house.
The device I rent from the internet service provider is not working well and my PC has been disconnected to the internet for about a week.
I can post a journal using my mobile - my mobile has a browser which can browse PC sites.
But I don't like to do it.
I prefer to use keyboard when I type in English.
It' much easier for me.

By the way, have you noticed the userpic for this journal?
I have bought an emblem of Section III and a badge of rank "Corporal" in March.
I love them! They give me encouragement.
They are exactly the same as Randel wears on his collar of his uniform.
I wear them on my jacket everyday when I go to work!
It' been nearly two months since I first started.
So far, no one notices what they are and I haven't found any Anime & Manga fans at work.
What makes me sad is that I haven't met anyone who's studied abroad and also love English, Anime & Manga.

I've heard of Akihabara! It would be awesome to go to Japan (one day I hope!)

Those are pins in the pic right? They're cool, even if no one else where they are from.

That's why the internet is so great, you know. No one I know are anime/manga fans in my area, but I know quite a few people from all over the world with the same interests thanks to the internet. ^_^

Why don't we chat when you have time?
I chat with Ku-san every weedend and we always have fun!

There is a street called "Otome(means girls) Road" in Ikebukuro.
Actually I don't like Ikebukuro because there are too many people and a bit dangerous compared to Akihabara.

Pls let me know your plans and schedule for the trip to Japan.
I can meet you and talk with you if you want.

If I can meet your schedule, I will be your guide and interpreter when you go to "Comic Market", the biggest Dojinshi Market in Japan.
You'll be surprised to see lots of people there.

I hope we can meet online soon!

i know the time difference in japan very well since i have to work around it with my online japanese teacher ^^;
well I'm free from now till august 26 :D
I'm leaving for japan with my friend belinda on july 25 and we'll be in kyoto and osaka for a week then we return to asakusa/tokyo area for the rest of our stay . we'll leave to go back home on august 26.

According to wikipedia comiket 2007 (summer) is august 17-20.
The current convention location is the Tokyo Big Sight convention center near Ariake, Tokyo. The doors open to attendees at around 10:00 AM. Because there are large crowds, the actual time of entry into the event will more than likely be delayed. According to the event website, the next Comiket (72) will open its doors on August 17th, 2007.

If you have free time we'd love for you to be our guide. can you email me your keitai(cell phone) number with area code ? I'll rent a cellphone while in japan ^^

I am moving to texas on June 30th so I might not have internet connection this weekend (depends on the wireless service in the area). right now i'm able to connect to internet. I love chat ^^

Re: ^o^
I got your comment right after I replied to your comments!

I'm going to bed shortly since it's midnight in Japan.

It will be hard to take a day off on weekdays, I think I can meet and guide you on weekends after you come back from Kyoto and Osaka.
Let me check the schedule of Comiket 72. We probably need to buy a very thick and heavy catalogs for admission fee.

Sorry, I don't have a headset and microphone, so I can chat with you by text. I don't have MSN but I have AIM which was introduced by Ku-san. You can find my AIM ID in my profile page.

Re: ^o^
You don't have to worry about buying Comiket Catalog. We can get them easily at the bookstores.
They include schedule, map and information of circles which are participating in the Comiket. We can go get our catalogs together one week or two weeks before the event.

For your information, my e-mail is in my profile page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me anytime.

I'll be online and signing in AIM tomorrow morning 11:00 AM in Japan time and will be meeting Ku-san and her brother.
I don't know your timezone, so pls check the time difference at timeanddate.com.
